Knitting Machine News Vintage Editions

Now that the end of my Christmas present making is so so close (more to come about this later) I had promised myself I would take the time to go through vintage copies of Knitting Machine News. These were very kindly given to me, along with anything I would ever need to get through a knitwear degree, by my mums work friend. Until now I never realised what vintage knitting gold was gathering dust on my shelves. I have copies dating back to the early 80s up to the mid 90s, over 10 years worth! Granted some of it is the ugly stuff you would expect but with a couple of colour changes and slight changes to shape I would actually wear some of it. Now feeling very inspired I can't wait to crack on with it. As usual the list of clothes I'd love to make for myself is endless but at least I now have the patterns to make a start!
In my current uni project I have become obsessed with fringing. I like the Aztec styling to this garment, I would add maybe a bit more fringing making it a bit thicker or even fringing the pattern as well. I would change the neckline to just a crew neck too. This would go great over my jodpurs.
I made my own woven camel cape over the summer holidays and have been thinking about making a knitted version for a while now. This long  blanket cape would be ideal for this freezing weather were having right now. I'm not sure about the actual pattern on the cape or the fringed bottom but I love the shape.

simple cardigan shape which would always be useful and can lend itself to a few more experimental techniques.

If only I'd had more time to knit Christmas jumpers for presents. One year in the future I'm determined to give everyone a jumper (or outfit) for xmas.

I've also found pages on some experimental knitting starting points which are going to be really helpful!

I still have a need for an angora rabbit!

I'm going to spend more time with this fab collection and really read through some of my favourite patterns. I still have 4 more albums to get through!
